Experience Lincoln’s
historic quarter

Dramatically dominating the skyline of Lincoln, Lincoln Cathedral has loomed large in English history as well as featuring prominently in contemporary Hollywood films like The Da Vinci Code. One look at this stunning structure (which was the tallest building in the world for over 200 years) and you’ll know why Victorian writer John Ruskin once said that it is "out and out the most precious piece of architecture in the British Isles and roughly speaking worth any two other cathedrals we have." Once you’ve taken in the cathedral, there’s lots more to do in Lincoln’s historic quarter. See one of four original copies of the Magna Carta at Lincoln Castle, or just ramble through the streets, stopping in for a pint at an 18th century pub or picking up a one-of-a-kind antique at one of Lincoln’s many specialist shops.

Go on a ghost walk in Britain’s Heritage Cities

Have a pint and look for apparitions in the Garricks Head Pub in Bath on a ghost tour. Expect a fright, or a laugh, on one of Canterbury’s famous ghost tours. Set in the winding cobbled streets of the old city, the aptly named "Ghost and Grisly Death Walk" in Durham leaves from the tourist information centre on Mondays at 7:30.
