Feel Ewe-phoria

Toasty sweaters, delectable local cheeses, even paper made from, er, sheep waste are all a part of living in a country where the human inhabitants are greatly outnumbered by the wooly ones. Still, why settle for simply counting sheep when you can visit Ewe-phoria near Corwen? This popular attraction boasts the chance to watch a ram parade and sheepdog trials led by Alan Owen, a former world champion.

Let the games begin

Scramble up a cliff and then jump off, just for fun. Such is the Welsh sport of ‘coasteering’. If that’s not quirky enough for you, bog snorkel the length of the peaty trench near Llanwrtyd Wells. You can simply watch or register and compete against other bog snorklers. There’s also the kick bike (that’s two wheels, no pedals) championship in Swansea in late September that you could attend. Or, you could bike to the top of Berwyn Mountain and get soaked by Wales’s highest waterfall on the way. Just a thought.
