Swansea and Cardiff—only about an hour separates them, but they both offer a truly unique experience for the traveler. The Welsh capital of Cardiff is of course packed with innumerable charms, from the historical (Cardiff Castle) to the cutting edge (Wales Millennium Centre, which friend Heledd writes about in this post). Swansea is an excellent launching place for Wales’ scenic Gower Peninsula. There you can surf, visit Mumbles (the childhood home of Catherine Zeta Jones), or visit the National Waterfront Museum, which traces the history of Wales through the development of its impressive waterfront.
